Recreating a Casteist "Naadu" System in Media

This is continuation of a social disorder; the disorder gets reinforced in the way a media worker is treated in a democratic media organisation such as India Today Group. I am talking about the story of Peer Mohamed, a well-known journalist in Tamil Nadu who has been working with India Today Group's Tamil Editorial in a senior capacity for the last seven and half years. He apparently questioned a credit-stealing by his Editor Mr.Anand Natarajan. The Editor had sent a false complaint that Peer had threatened him to the management of India Today Group. Peer was forced to resign and asked to work on a three month temporary contract. Anand Natarajan, who belongs to the dominant Thevar caste and owes allegiance to casteist leaders such as N.Sethuraman, had created a casteist lobby within the office and is trying to sack Peer Mohamed, whose contribution to India Today-Tamil has been phenomenal. Peer has been known for unique reports on Dalit and minority affairs in the state. He had done the most progressive interview with Tamil Actor Kushboo that created a national-level debate on freedom of expression.
